Loom at Rest

Loom at Rest honours the craftsmanship of Bahraini weavers and a tradition that is gradually fading from everyday life. At the centre of the installation is a functioning loom where local weavers can demonstrate their skills, share their knowledge and invite visitors to experience the craft while resting within the space. Fabric created through the loom rises into the canopy and surrounding textile enclosure, allowing visitors to be sheltered by the work of Bahraini artisans. The simple structure draws from vernacular resting and working shelters, creating a quiet contrast between the speed of contemporary life and the slow, attentive rhythm of traditional making.
